That was so 4 weeks ago

I'm a little behind on blogging. We took a day trip to DC about 4 weeks ago and I never posted about it, so here are the highlights.
First, we went to the National Zoo. So nice because it's free and we got street parking as opposed to around a $50 zoo trip in Philly for the three of us.
Next we went to Ford's Theater where President Lincoln was shot. It was very nice on the inside and they still show plays there. The picture below shows the box where Lincoln was shot.
We learned a lot of facts about the night Lincoln was shot and I found the tour very interesting.

Lincoln was actually taken to the house across the street from the theater after he was shot. We couldn't go in because it was closed for repairs.
We went to a Nationals game and had a good time. On our way to the game we actually saw a "Shake Shack" which was one of our favorite places to eat when we lived near NYC a few years ago. Burgers and cheese fries. Delicious!
Justin and Easton enjoying the game!

Snookie & The Situation's turf!

There was a BBQ championship this past weekend in a New Jersey shore town not too far from us. There were these huge smokers everywhere.
Injecting meat for extra tenderness.
These were some of the ribs we tried. One set of ribs was the best we ever had and the other set were smothered in the best BBQ sauce we had ever had.
We also ate delicious grilled corn, honey basted chicken and a brisket sandwich!
We thought this was a creative name for a BBQ restaurant.
This is the sasquatch from the beef jerky commercials. Justin loves those commercials, so he couldn't pass up a photo op!
We went to the beach after that. It was pretty packed, but we found a little spot of sand for our stuff. It was a hot day, but the water was freezing. The water is pretty much always cold in the northeast, but it was colder then it should have been in July.

The cold water didn't bother Easton one bit, so that's good. This was his first time to the shore this summer and he loved it (he didn't want to stop playing to pose for the picture). He would run towards a wave & then turn around & look back. He laughed and we think he thought the waves were chasing him! It was such a fun day!

Fun Filled 4th!

Family picture while we were waiting for the parade to start

This guy is a local weatherman, but people freaked out when they saw him (even Justin). Justin made him feel like a celebrity by calling out "We love you Glenn! " You're the best weatherman in the world!" He is memorable because he always wears a bow tie and his news team calls him "Glenn 'Hurricane' Schwartz."
Our friends had a BBQ and Easton enjoyed playing on the mini slide and with friends! We had fun too because there was a lot of good food and friends there!

Easton and some friends being patriotic. Sadly not one picture had all kids looking at the camera, but considering it was 8:30 PM & two friends had already gone home to bed, the picture turned out pretty cute.
Our friend put on his own fireworks show at the BBQ which was a lot of fun! Afterwards we went to see a big fireworks show! It was a fun filled 4th!
